Yumna
El-Sayed 



Yumna El-Sayed is a visual artist based in Cairo, Egypt. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Cairo, with a specialization in Oil Painting in July 2020. Following her formal studies, she pursued a program in Visual Arts at Studiokhana for Contemporary Art and Cultural Development, where she also participated in the final exhibition “Possibilities of What the Light Might Expose” (March 2019). In the same year, she took part in the group exhibition “The Roadmap to Renaissance” held at Darb 1718, as well as the second edition of “Plage Champollion. ” Yumna’s practice extends across various mediums including oil painting, photography, printmaking, and multimedia installation. Her recent explorations have particularly focused on printmaking, utilizing the medium to create several publications that merge illustration and text. These publications have been exhibited at both the Cairo Art Book Fair and the Basel Art Book Fair. Her artistic development is further shaped by her participation in various workshops and art programs in Egypt, Switzerland, and Sweden. Recently she was part of Paper and Performance program that took place in CIC. Through her work, Yumna examines the raw and often unsettling dynamics of shared spaces, exploring the crises and tensions that emerge from the coexistence of individuals within their social environments.
